Sewing

Hi everyone,

Okay, so this is one of the things I figured I should talk about here, since it is art too! Not so recently my mom and I got a sewing machine and the few times I've used it I've had a bunch of fun with it. If you remember I did a post around Christmas...sometime, I forget which Christmas it was, where I posted about a lamb I made. This is kind of like that...improved! I've only done two projects so far but I'm looking forward to making more things like this in the future because I really do love it!

Admittedly one of the two projects involved sculpting too (as you will obviously see) BUT, it was only for the head and the rest was sewn, so he still counts!

That's right, everyone gets THE CHAIR! I'm kidding, I know they're both in the same chair, but I just like that chair!

PS: The rabbit is supposed to look antique! I'm not sure if I did that any justice, but I gave it my best!

Thanks for reading!

Merry Christmas!

As the title says, I hope everyone has an amazing Christmas today! As promised, here is my mom's other gift, the paint-over of Ivy! You may recognize her from somewhere!

Complete with twinkling lights, of course. (Forever trying to figure out how to hide the battery pack!)

I hope you all like her as much as my mom and I do!

Thanks for looking!

My First Painting!

Hi all,

I've been dead for a whole year here again, oops. I always say this in every post and I'll say it again (for filler,  of course) that I am HORRIBLE at blogging. Absolutely rubbish at it! I don't even know why I try sometimes, but I feel bad letting it sit and collect cyber-dust.

BUT, I genuinely have something to update with now! Something I am VERY proud to update you all with. MY FIRST PAINTING!

This is my first painting since attempting Ivy way back in the day, and I haven't attempted anything since then until now. I've painted over Ivy, but I can't post that right now because its become a Christmas gift for my mom, and if my mom by the VERY, VERY off chance finds this blog, moments before Christmas, I would be sad.

The painting I finished ALSO happens to be a Christmas gift for her. I started it as a backup since I wasn't sure if I'd be able to finish the other in time since the canvas is (as you know if you've seen the post for Ivy) ENORMOUS! Anyway, I ended up finishing my backup painting way before due, and then crumbling and giving it to my mom as an early Christmas gift. She LOVED IT!

I also painted this, and am painting the other painting as well, in probably the weirdest place on Earth - on the floor in my closet so my mom wouldn't catch me! She nearly did (the day before I finished, too! Sneaky mom...luckily I was able to brush it off!)

In other news, I am getting back into traditional art more now, especially after finishing this painting! Before starting the painting I started a pencil drawing of Robert Plant, who is my favorite person. In the world. Ever. (If you don't know who that is, I am shaking my head at you!) Unfortunately he went on the back-burner when I started the paintings. I WILL FINISH HIM. I WILL.

Anyway, that seems like a good note to end on! In typing this I realized I do have a few more things to talk about, but I don't want to sandwich it all together, so I'll probably have a bit more here after Christmas when I'm free to post my mom's gift!

Thanks for reading!

So, it's been forever...

Wow, wow, wow. It's been a really, REALLY long time since I've updated this! After sitting here for a while, I realized I have no idea what to say, or even if I have anything to say. Maybe that's why I was never a good blogger! I've been reading and writing a lot, and working on finishing a novel. I'm really excited about this book, because it may be one of the best things, conceptually, that I've ever written. It's a lot of fun to play with and daydream about. Painting is kind of on the back-burner because of this, I haven't stopped, I'm just not turning out as much as I used to.

It takes longer for me to paint now because I'm kind of persnickety on details, more than I was before. Not even writing comes easily, most of what I'm doing right now is snippits, scenes that just come to me while I wait for something else to move me back into the bigger picture. I finally got one of my paintings printed though! It took a lot of courage, but the payoff looks amazing on my bedroom wall, so I'm happy about that. I'm also excited about a trip I'll be taking back home, I'm really excited to see my friends again. So much has changed, and sometimes I wonder if I'm just staying the same while everything around me changes and grows older. Maybe everyone feels that way, you're with yourself so often that you never see all the little changes, that seem so obvious to everyone else.

Anyway, I'll try to update this more, if you read this far, thank you!

Happy 2013, everyone!

New art!

Hi everyone -

While I can't say its been a while since I've blogged, what I can say is is that its been a while since I've updated my blog, with some art!

Sadly, because I've been so busy moving, I haven't had much time to draw. My art supplies aren't unpacked quite yet, but when they are, I'll have a beautiful studio to put everything and work in, meaning, more art updates of course! I'm so excited to be kicking off 2011 this way. I'm happy to have a place where I can relax and just do what I love. That's really special to me.

Now, I know I only have 2 pieces here, and maybe it doesn't count much if one of them is not even near being finished, but I figured, why not give you something anyway, I haven't updated you all in so long. (PS: I know in the digital painting, her left eye needs to be fixed, I would've fixed it before I posted, so it at least would look somewhat decent, but I don't have Photoshop on this computer.)

Happy 2011 everybody!

Coming To You, Live From my Dad's Laptop!

Hi everybody!

I just came to update you all, and get that slightly depressing entree out of the way. I've moved, and its not what I thought it would be...its so much better! My brother and one of his friends have been here visiting for a week, they leave tomorrow morning, so I've been pretty busy. I'm so sorry, I would've updated sooner but I just couldn't get to a computer. Speaking of computers, your probably wondering about the title...well, since I've moved my brand new computer has been having some issues, and refuses to power up. So it is in the Mac store now, as I type this, hopefully getting fixed for me to bring home today or at the latest, tomorrow afternoon. Now, onto some happier news, I did pick up my kitten a day or two after I moved in, despite being really sick with a cold, when I held her I felt so much better. She's beautiful, loving, but very naughty, I must admit, right now she's watching me type, climbing all over the keyboard! She's quite a handful as you can probably imagine. Just the other day, I was downstairs with my mom and dad, minding my own business and having some fun, when out of the corner of my eye I happened to look up and there she was, like a queen, half of her body out of the balcony, looking down over us. Now, let me explain this, our upstairs consists of only my bedroom, my parents on the opposite bedroom and the second bathroom in the middle, its only a walk down the hall from my bedroom to get to my parents'. So, the upstairs in a strip, like an E without the middle line. Our balcony is made up of carved wood, so there are spaces where the chunks of wood where taken away to make the carving, some holes both low enough and big enough for her body to fit through (she's very tiny.) So, she was halfway through one of the holes, both her front paws out on the very small edge, looking down on us. You can only imagine how scared I was! I practically sprinted up the staircase to go and grab her before she made it all the way through, luckily, I was just in time. Sadly, I can't post any pictures of my little daredevil at the moment, because all my pictures are on my computer, which like I said is being worked on. So, as soon as I get it back home, I'll be sure that the first thing I do is post an entree with pictures of her, and her story of course. The reason I bring her up now, in this entree is because she has no name, and its been almost a week since I got her. I am thinking of the name Feather, I know it sounds strange but her fur reminds me of the feathers used to stuff expensive pillows. She is so soft. Besides that, she loves playing with her feather toy. My parents love the name Spooky, because she's constantly getting spooked, even if she acts brave. She's such a character! Anyway, you DON'T have to give names in the comments here, I'd rather you post them in the entree that has the pictures of her, so you can see how she looks, and come up with better names that fit both her personality AND her appearance. I can't wait to post them so I can hear all the great names people come up with for her! I'm very curious to hear your ideas, because I just can't seem to find her perfect name. Thank you so much for reading, I'll see you soon!

Bye!
